Chapter 1, Dungeness

A long time ago in a land far, far away, there once lived a fierce and powerful Dragon lord named Dungeness. He lived high on the mountain, in a dark and foreboding castle, that overlooked the sleepy town of Timrick. The people of Timrick abided by the dragon lords rules, for they knew of his terrible temper. But many times, Dungeness would roam his castle in a most fearful mood, banging his long , green tail and moaning a long, dreadful groan.

The Villagers would shiver each time they heard Dunguness’ moan. Finally, the people decided they could take this torment no longer. They launched an assault against the dragon lord’s castle, but there was no sign of Dungeness anywhere. The people posted guards to watch the castle. They were to light the huge bonfire to signal the villagers as soon as Dungeness returned.

One stormy night, the wind howled through the turrets. The two lonely guards huddled near a small campfire, trying to keep warm from the biting north wind. Suddenly the wind stopped. Alarmed, the guards looked around. They could see a dark storm cloud approaching from the west. It grew quickly and soon overtook the western skyline. To their terror, they realized that the shadow was not a storm at all! They scrambled to their feet, but it was too late. . .
