When Loved Ones get Cancer

I started a memory book for my dog, Ginger. She is the best dog I have every had the pleasure to raise. Never sick a day in her life. So, we were surprised, on Feb 19 to find out her blood looked “strange”. Within 2 weeks, and several tests, she developed stage 5 lymphoma with only 4 to 6 weeks to live. My husband and I are just devastated. It is so difficult to watch her slowly deteriorate. This once happy, energetic dog, is slipping away.

So we spend time with her — a lot of time. Not that we didn’t before, but now, the time seems so much more precious. She is even allowed to sleep on the bed. Of course, she likes my side of the bed, so, I sleep on the couch, so she can be more comfortable.

We have medicine for her pain and to fight off infection, but it is only a matter of time. I will continue to write my memory book, and who knows? Perhaps the Adventures of Ginger will become a story for all to enjoy.

God Bless,

Susan
